Whitehall Borough borders the City of Pittsburgh, Brentwood, Baldwin, Bethel Park, and Castle Shannon Borough's. The Borough Building and Police Department are located on Borough Park Drive which intersects with Route 51.

Whitehall Borough is predominantly a middle class residential community. The major roadways that traverse Whitehall are : Route 51, Brownsville Road, Baptist Road and Weyman Roads. Public education is provided through the joint Baldwin Whitehall School District. Of which Baldwin High School, Harrison Middle School and Whitehall Elementary School are located in Whitehall Borough.

The major commercial establishments located in Whitehall can be found along Route 51 and the Caste Village Shopping Center located at Baptist and Grove Roads. The Prospect Park Apartment complex, 1215 housing units, are located off of East Willock and Prospect Roads. Also, located in Whitehall is the South Hills Country Club which is located adjacent to Route 51 and Brownsville Road.
