ERMA - Emergency Management

ERMA is a means of warehousing mission critical Emergency Management response data so it can be accessed from where it is needed the most, from the Command Post.  Emergency Management of Resources is a complicated business that needs to be as efficient as possible during a disaster situation.  By using a number of means of accessing the Internet in a wireless mode, information that would be sitting at your base of operations is now readily available from the field.

To visit an Emergency Management Simulation Site, Click Here and enter ERMA by selecting the GUEST LINK.

This site is a simulation of the capabilities that member agencies will have with ERMA.  From the navigation buttons above, you can sample the following:

And many other useful features

Your SOP’s Immediately Available

Each organizational unit that is a member of ERMA will have their SOP manual placed on the Web Site for rapid retrieval. Any links to other sections of the document will be activated so there will be no need to flip through pages to reach the desired sections of the manual.

Contact and Incident Lists

A critical component of any Emergency Management Plan is the inclusion of who to contact in certain situations, or what other items or locations may need attention.

Your Emergency Management site on ERMA includes an unlimited number of Contact Lists, which might include Elected Officials, Non-English Speaking Persons, Vulnerable Facilities or Reception Centers.

Should a Fire Department be involved with your membership, they can also insert all of their Pre-Plan locations for immediate retrieval. ERMA’s pre-plans include a wealth of information such as hazardous zones to personnel, salvage targets, alarm zones, hydrants and standpipe locations. They also include equipment deployment and attack plans.

Local Resource Lists

Also associated with your Emergency Management site on ERMA is the ability to add resources that might be required in a situation such as Boarding Material, Sand and so forth.

A Local Resource is a product or service such as Diking Material or Heavy Equipment that is really Agency specific. Associated with a Local Resource is the vendor(s) that would be used to acquire those products or services during a situation. You will be able to search the database for a specific resource and find all of the vendors (either Local or Global) that would normally provide those items.

Neighboring Resources

What would you do if suddenly the vendor that normally provides the necessary material is located in the middle of an evacuation zone? With ERMA, you can check neighboring resource listings. When your ERMA account is established, you can define who your "neighbors" are and you would then have the ability of viewing their resource lists.

First Responders

In this section of your Emergency Management site on ERMA, you will have access to the complete North American Emergency Response Guidebook.  Information on response situations can be retrieved by either Placard Number, Guide Number, Material ID or Material Name.

This section of ERMA also contains silhouettes of rail cars and tank trucks as well as information on certain DOT transportation classes.  Placard identification is also available with links to the Emergency Response Guide section.

Also included in this section of ERMA is access to the complete CHRIS manual as offered by the United States Coast Guard.  In addition there is access to FEMA's First Responders Guide for Hazardous Materials.

Image Library

Emergency preparedness is greatly enhanced with the Image Library.  Here you have the opportunity to store images of buildings, floor plans, site plans and so forth.  Using existing methodologies it will be possible to locate "hot spots" on an image so that you can drill down on a specific section for additional detail.

In one of the sample images one is presented with a drawing of a school building.  When one clicks on a specific floor, the actual floor plan is presented for that floor.  It would be rather difficult to maintain a working knowledge of all critical buildings within a specific area.  With the Image Library, that difficulty is erased.
